Universities, R&D Groups and Academic Networks

PHOTOPTICS is a unique forum for universities, research groups and research projects to present their research and scientific results, be it by presenting a paper, hosting a tutorial or instructional course or demonstrating its research products in demo sessions, by contributing towards panels and discussions in the event's field of interest or by presenting their project, be it by setting up an exhibition booth, by being profiled in the event's web presence or printed materials or by suggesting keynote speakers or specific thematic sessions.

Special conditions are also available for Research Projects which wish to hold meetings at INSTICC events.

Current Academic Partners:

Faculty of Science and Technology at New University of Lisbon

Founded in 1977, FCT/UNL is one of the most prestigious Portuguese public schools of science and engineering today, with a total enrolment of ca. 7500 students, of which nearly 1400 are postgraduate students (MSc and PhD). Since its foundation, FCT/UNL has given priority to the promotion of research in its areas of activity. Today FCT/UNL hosts 16 research centres acknowledged by Fundação para a Ciência e a Tecnologia (of which 3 are rated “excellent” and 6 ”very good”), as well as 2 Poles of research centres (both rated “very good”).

CEFITEC

CEFITEC, Centro de Física e Investigação Tecnológica (Centre of Physics and Technological Research). We are deeply committed to the quality and relevance of physics in interdisciplinary research. We believe that high quality research is achieved by high quality and dedication of all our researchers. CEFITEC has been judged Good during the last evaluation process (2014).

Currently CEFITEC has over 16 permanent students and over 34 academic and research staff with some of the strongest backgrounds in their specialist fields. CEFITEC is therefore a centre of innovative research, much of which is driven by the hard work of our undergraduate and graduate students. We aim to help to develop skills which can be applied to both the academic and non-academic worlds. Through regular basis, planned courses and inter-disciplinary programmes/scholarships we encourage all participants to look beyond the boundaries of their chosen discipline, as well as sharing and broadening knowledge across disciplines through other universities and research laboratories with which we keep close contact.

Laboratory for Instrumentation, Biomedical Engineering and Radiation Physics

The LIBPhys-UNL is one of the three groups of the new research unit LIBPhys (Laboratory for Instrumentation, Biomedical Engineering and Radiation Physics) created in January of 2015. Relying on the complementary know-how to strength and to perform more efficiently the future R&D activities, the main motivation for this merging is the optimization of the human and material resources, deepening the already existing synergies.
