Universities, R&D Groups and Academic Networks

PHOTOPTICS is a unique forum for universities, research groups and research projects to present their research and scientific results, be it by presenting a paper, hosting a tutorial or instructional course or demonstrating its research products in demo sessions, by contributing towards panels and discussions in the event's field of interest or by presenting their project, be it by setting up an exhibition booth, by being profiled in the event's web presence or printed materials or by suggesting keynote speakers or specific thematic sessions.

Special conditions are also available for Research Projects which wish to hold meetings at INSTICC events.

Faculty of Science and Technology

Founded in 1977, FCT/UNL is one of the most prestigious Portuguese public schools of science and engineering today, with a total enrolment of ca. 7500 students, of which nearly 1400 are postgraduate students (MSc and PhD). Since its foundation, FCT/UNL has given priority to the promotion of research in its areas of activity. Today FCT/UNL hosts 16 research centres acknowledged by Fundação para a Ciência e a Tecnologia (of which 3 are rated “excellent” and 6 ”very good”), as well as 2 Poles of research centres (both rated “very good”).

LA3NET - Lasers for Application at Accelerator facilities

LA3NET focuses on the exploitation of lasers for applications at accelerator facilities for ion beam generation, acceleration and diagnostics. LA³NET is part of the FP7 Marie Curie Initial Training Network (ITN) scheme. The LA³NET network is built around 19 early stage researchers working on dedicated projects to research and develop a complete spectrum of laser-based applications for accelerators. The network presently consists of an international consortium of more than 30 partner organizations including universities, research centres and private companies working in this field. This provides a cross-sector interdisciplinary environment for beyond state-of-the-art research and researcher training while developing links and new collaborations.
