Brief Bio
Maria Raposo received the Ph.D. degree in Materials Sciences and Engineering by Universidade de São Paulo, Brazil in 1999 and, since 2000, is professor at Physics Department of Faculdade de Ciências e Tecnologia, Universidade Nova de Lisboa, lecturing Solid State Physics, Surface and Interfaces Technology, Conducting Polymers, Molecular Electronics and Physics of Functional Macromolecular Systems. She is Head of the Functional Molecular Systems group since 2008, whose research interests include electric and optical properties of ultra-thin films of polymers and biomolecules, interfaces and nano-technology, colloids, molecular architectures for electronics, photonics and magnetism, biomimetic membranes and radiation effect in biological systems.
Agostino Iadicicco

Brief Bio
Agostino Iadicicco received the master’s degree in electronic engineering cum laude and the Ph.D. degree in 2002 and 2005, respectively. Currently, he is full professor of electronics and Coordinator of the PhD program in “Information and Communication Technology and Engineering” at Department of engineering of University of Naples “Parthenope”, Italy. He serves as the Associate Editor for the IEEE Sensors Journal. Since 2002, his research activity has been focused on optoelectronics and photonics devices for sensing. He is currently involved in the design, realization and testing of novel in-fiber devices in standard and unconventional fibers including polarization maintaining and photonic bandgap fibers. His work in this area encompasses the development and practical application of sensors for the measurement of a range of physical, chemical, and biological parameters.
Stefania Campopiano

Brief Bio
Stefania Campopiano is Full Professor of Electronics and Optoelectronics at the University of Napoli “Parthenope” where she coordinates the Information Engineering study course. She received the Electronic Engineering Master degree cum Laude from the University of Naples Federico II and received the PhD degree in Electronic Engineering at Università della Campania “L. Vanvitelli”. She is member of the Ph. D. teaching staff. She is/has been tutor of several PhD students. Since 1999, her research interests are mainly focused on periodic fiber optic structures for sensing and telecommunications applications. She is the author of over 160 printed works including international journals and conferences, coauthor of patents and reviewer for IEEE, OSA and Elsevier journals. She cooperates on scientific arguments with several universities and companies in Italy and abroad.
Michele Giordano

Brief Bio
Michele Giordano, Research Director at Institute for Polymers Composites and Biomaterials of National Research Council. He received his master’s degree in Chemical Engineering in 1992 by the University of Napoli “Federico II”, where he took PhD degree in Materials Engineering in 1995. From 2010 to 2019 Associate Researcher at Conseil Européen pour la Recherche Nucléaire, CERN, in Geneva. From 2014 to 2018 Visiting Professor at the University of Strasbourg. From 2007 to 2010 Adjunct professor at University of Napoli “Federico II”. In 2005 co-founder of Optosmart srl, a research spin-off company focused on the industrial application of optoelectronic technologies. His research activities are within the area of engineering and materials science. Research focuses are nano and macro composite materials, mainly polymer based, including multiscale design and processing of multifunctional composite materials, and materials engineering for sensing and optoelectronic applications. He is author of more than 320 scientific publications, H index was 45 on January 2021, (Scopus) and 14 patents.

The AOMatDev Special Session addresses topics related with advances in optical materials and devices covering aspects related with design, processing, characterization, and applications.
